An experienced and well-respected coach, Gilad Doron enters his third season on the Main Line. Doron has made significant strides in turning the Wildcats into a perennially powerful program during his short tenure at Villanova.

In 2005, his team finished 21-11, the program's first 20+ win season since 1997 and its first winning season since 2002. The `Cats earned their second BIG EAST Tournament berth in three years. They played nationally ranked Notre Dame close throughout the match before falling 3-1.

Prior to beginning his stint at Villanova, Doron was an assistant coach at Temple University from 1996-2000. At Temple, he helped guide the Owls to three Atlantic 10 titles and three appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Doron began his coaching career in Israel as the head men's volleyball coach for the Mate Asher Professional Volleyball Club. While coaching with Mate Asher, he mentored national team players from Israel, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Croatia. Doron led his teams to the 1994 Israeli championship and the finals of the Israel Cup in 1995. Mate Asher was also a qualifier in the European League in 1996.

Doron played for the Israeli National team for ten years and was part of the squad that placed fourth in the World University Games in Japan in 1995. He played 12 seasons with Mate Asher, helping lead the club to four Israeli League titles and two Israeli Cup championships.

In between his time at Temple and his arrival at Villanova, Doron founded the Philadelphia Volleyball Academy. He has developed the academy into a nationally ranked volleyball club that fields five teams comprised of players aged 14-18. Doron supervises a coaching staff of eight and provides guidance on implementing strategies and team goals.

Doron also served as the head girls' volleyball coach for Synergy Volleyball Club in Philadelphia for three years. He worked with players agaed 15-18 on a nationally ranked club squad that qualified for the national championships in 2001 and 2002. In `02, his U-18 team earned a no. 12 national ranking, and the team compiled an overall record of 100-27.

A 2000 graduate of Temple University, Doron and his wife Jennifer reside in Havertown with their toddler son Kai Jonathon.
