Butler & Xavier Travel to the Mainline for Homecoming Weekend
Villanova Volleyball (11-13, 4-5 BIG EAST) will look to host Midwest rivals Butler (14-7, 6-3 BIG EAST) and Xavier (12-9, 7-5 BIG EAST) this weekend as it continues its fight toward Milwaukee for the 2014 BIG EAST Volleyball Championship. The Wildcats will be fighting for back-to-back wins after dropping both matches in three sets against these competitors on the road a little under a month ago.
Wildcat Volleyball Falls to Marquette Golden Eagles in Three Sets
The Villanova volleyball (10-13, 3-5 BIG EAST) dropped a Friday night match against the Marquette Golden Eagles (15-5, 6-2 BIG EAST) in three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-23. Despite a strong effort in the third set, the Wildcats were not able to overcome their mistakes from earlier in the match and fell to Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis.
Three Wildcats Post Double-Digit Kills in Win Against DePaul
The Villanova volleyball team improved their record to 11-13 (4-5 BIG EAST) after a Saturday night, four-set match against the DePaul Blue Demons (3-18, 1-8 BIG EAST). The Wildcats trumped the Blue Demons with scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-17. Villanova will be back in action to kick off homecoming weekend with a Friday night match against the Butler Bulldogs at 7 p.m. at the Jake Nevin Field House.
Villanova Travels West to Take on Marquette & DePaul
Villanova Volleyball ( 10-12, 3-4 BIG EAST) will continue to work to bring their record even as they get ready to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles (14-5, 5-2 BIG EAST) on Friday night and the DePaul Blue Demons (3-16, 1-6 BIG EAST). Wildcats Give Creighton a Scare in Four Close Sets
October is a month full of thrills and Villanova (10-12, 3-4 BIG EAST) gave Creighton (13-7, 6-1 BIG EAST) a scare on Saturday night as the Wildcats forced the Bluejays into four close sets with scores of 25-17, 20-25, 25-15 and 25-23. While the Wildcats were unable to overcome an aggressive Creighton offense, they did post positive numbers with 44 kills, 44 assists, six service aces, 66 digs and 10 total blocks.
Berendt Aces the Hoyas
The Villanova Wildcats improved to 10-11 (3-3 BIG EAST) on the season as they battle their way back over .500 in a four set win against the Georgetown Hoyas (7-12, 1-5 BIG EAST). The Wildcats overtook the Hoyas in four sets with scores of 25-17, 18-25, 25-13 and 25-19.
Volleyball Looks to Weekend Matches with Georgetown & Creighton
The Villanova Wildcats Volleyball team will host Georgetown and Creighton this weekend in hopes of bringing their record even to 11-11 overall and pull ahead to a winning BIG EAST record. The Wildcats are currently 9-11 (2-3 BIG EAST) after they suffered two hard losses last weekend against Xavier and Butler. The contests against both opponents this weekend begin at 7 p.m. at Jake Nevin Field House.
Villanova Falls to Butler in Three
In their fourth meeting ever, the Villanova volleyball team (9-11, 2-3 BIG EAST) battled the Butler Bulldogs to wrap up their first on-the-road conference match-ups at the Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Ind. The Wildcats lost in three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-20.
