Villanova Falls to Creighton in Omaha
The Villanova volleyball team (13-19, 6-11 BIG EAST) fell in three sets to the Creighton Blue Jays with scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-10. The Wildcats will look to finish the 2014 season on Sunday with a 2 p.m. afternoon match against Georgetown in Washington D.C.
Wildcats Look to Close 2014 Season on the road against Creighton and Georgetown
The Villanova volleyball team (13-18, 6-10 BIG EAST) enjoyed an exciting weekend at home last weekend after celebrating Senior Night and record breaking performances from two of its members in matches against DePaul and Marquette. Without a chance of edging their way into the BIG EAST Championship field, the Wildcats will wrap up their 2014 season with road matches against Marquette and Georgetown.
Block City: Freshman Cunningham Breaks Program Record
The Villanova volleyball team dropped their last home match of the season against Marquette in three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-19. While inaccurate hitting proved a problem for the Wildcats this evening, lack of effort was not one.
A Successful Senior Night
Milestones were met and points were scored. The Wildcats overcome the Blue Demons in Five-Set Thriller.The Villanova volleyball team improved to 13-17, 6-9 in the BIG EAST after a five-set thriller against DePaul (3-25, 1-15 BIG EAST) with scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-17, 18-25 and 16-14. The Wildcats plan to use the momentum of their victory to prepare to take on BIG EAST force Marquette () tomorrow night in the Jake Nevin field house at 7 p.m.
Wildcats Set to Celebrate Senior Night on the Mainline
Villanova Volleyball (12-17, 5-9 BIG EAST) is set to celebrate numerous milestones this weekend as they host DePaul and Marquette for their last home series of the 2014 season. After suffering a hard loss against Seton Hall last weekend, the Wildcats will look to celebrate their seniors and Lauren Carpenter finally achieving her 1000th kill as a Wildcat.
Steinbach Adds Pedersen-Henry to 2015-16 Roster
Head Coach Josh Steinbach of the Villanova volleyball team signed one new member to the Wildcat family for the 2015-16 season. Middle blocker Amanda Pedersen-Henry of Vista Murrieta High School in California officially signed her letter of intent this morning.
A Class All Their Own
This 2014 season has been a highly competitive one for the field of ten schools in the BIG EAST. Creighton began the season ranked 23rd in the country, and, along with fellow Midwest rival Marquette, has spent the rest of the season receiving votes. While the Wildcats may not see time in the BIG EAST Championship, Head Coach Josh Steinbach can rest assured that he has invested well in two freshman powerhouses for seasons to come.
Villanova Volleyball Falls to Seton Hall in Three
Villanova volleyball dropped a three set match to the Seton Hall Pirates (23-6, 11-3 BIG EAST) in South Orange, N.J. Saturday evening with scores of 26-16, 25-8 and 25-15. The Wildcats (12-17, 5-9 BIG EAST) will look forward to their last two home matches of the season next weekend against DePaul and Marquette to finish out 2014 on a high note.
