OSAKA, Japan - Villanova graduate Marina Muncan qualified for the semifinals of the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Osaka, Japan earlier today. Muncan competed in the third heat of the 1500m event clocking in at 4:11.24. She will compete in tomorrow's semifinals alongside the top six runners in each heat, as well at the six fastest times overall.
Over her time spent on the Main Line, Muncan was no stranger to success. As an All-American in cross country and indoor and outdoor track, the former Wildcat standout clinched a total of 11 individual Big East Championships in track and field during her career. One of her biggest accomplishments was running the anchor leg in the DMR that won a first-place finish at the highly touted Penn Relays in 2006. As a result, Villanova captured its 10th DMR crown and 28th Penn Relay title.
