Koons and Marino Advance to 5,000m Finals at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Frances Koons and sophomore Amanda Marino advanced to the 5,000m finals at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday evening at McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

Koons finished third in her heat to automatically qualify as she crossed the finish line in 16:16.96. Marino clocked in at 16:25.33 and qualified by time. The finals are set for 8:15 p.m. on Friday, June 12.

Also on Wednesday, sophomore Sarah Morrison competed in the 3,000m steeplechase and finished in 10:37.14.

Senior Ellen Dougherty and sophomore Sheila Reid will make their first appearance on the track today in the semifinals of the 1,500m set to begin at 7:55 p.m.
