Ioana Parusheva Captures BIG EAST Title In Steeplechase

Storrs, Conn. - Ioana Parusheva successfully defended her BIG EAST title in the 3000m steeplechase today on the first full day of competition at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of the University of Connecticut.
Parusheva won her event in 10:14.88, an NCAA East Regional leading time and a PR. She was not the only women's competitor to find success today. Monique Morgan won her heats in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, both in regional qualifying times. Yolanda Malcolm advanced to the final in the 100m hurdles, also achieving a regional qualifying standard. Marina Muncan, Arusha McKenzie and Akilah Vargas all advanced to the 800m final in regional qualifying times.
