Villanova will compete in the BIG EAST Championships this weekend, with the conference meet being held over three days from Friday through Sunday. Rutgers is hosting the conference championship at the Track & Field Complex in Piscataway.

Cleirigh Buttner Breaks Own Indoor School Record in 800 Meters
The second day of the Columbia East-West Challenge was a record-setting one for Villanova, as junior middle distance runner Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Dublin, Ireland) broke her own indoor school record in the 800 meters at the New York Armory on Saturday evening. Cleirigh Buttner starred in the 800 meters and sophomore Nicole Hutchinson (West Vancouver, B.C.) finished as the runner-up in the Mile to lead a group of Wildcats that ran in that race.
Wildcats Among Nation's Best with Strong DMR Time at the Armory
The quartet of sophomore Sammy Bockoven (Hudson, Ohio), freshman Amari Onque-Shabazz (Union, N.J.), sophomore Kaley Ciluffo (LeClaire, Iowa) and junior Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Dublin, Ireland) put Villanova into the national conversation in the distance medley relay with a strong time of 11:07.90 at the Columbia East-West Challenge on Friday afternoon. The mark ranks third in the nation this season after a busy day of elite meets around the country.
Wildcats Record 11 Top-Eight Finishes at Villanova Open
Freshman sprinter Trudy-Ann Williamson (Kingston, Jamaica) cruised to a victory in the 60 meter dash and Villanova scored in eight different events its second home meet of the season on Friday afternoon. More than a dozen teams from the region competed in the Villanova Open at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex, with the Wildcats tallying 11 top-eight finishes. Villanova had athletes competing in six running events and five field events.
Villanova Open to Stream Live on Flotrack Friday Afternoon
The second home meet of the indoor track & field season takes place on Friday afternoon when more than a dozen schools converge on the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex for the Villanova Open. The meet gets underway at 12 p.m. and is expected to wrap up by approximately 6 p.m.
Wildcats Win Three Middle Distance Events at Gotham Cup
Villanova controlled the middle distance events in dominant fashion in its first of five consecutive meets at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon. Junior Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Dublin, Ireland), sophomore Kaley Ciluffo (LeClaire, Iowa) and redshirt freshman Bella Burda (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) all won their events in their season debuts during competition at the Gotham Cup, and the Wildcats came out of the meet with several new personal best marks.
Williamson Sets School Record in 60 Meters at Nittany Lion Challenge
One of the young members of the Villanova roster made a name for herself in the first meet of the new year and the Wildcats had a terrific day of competition at the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday afternoon. Freshman sprinter Trudy-Ann Williamson (Kingston, Jamaica) provided the highlight of the day by first tying, and then breaking, the school record in the 60 meter dash. She won the final heat in a record time of 7.41 seconds.
Wildcats Legend Marty Stern Inducted to Coaches Hall of Fame
It was a very memorable birthday for legendary Villanova track & field coach Marty Stern, who was one of six coaches inducted into the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Coaches Hall of Fame on Wednesday night. The ceremony took place during the organization’s annual convention at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes Resort & Spa. An audience of more than 600 peers, family and friends honored the six Hall of Fame inductees, and Stern was inducted on the night that he also celebrated his 80th birthday.
Calabrese and Cleary Complete Pentathlon at Lehigh
Sophomore multi-event athletes Sofia Calabrese (Edwards, Colo.) and Niki Cleary (Flemington, N.J.) finished second and fifth, respectively, in the pentathlon at the Fast Times Before Finals Meet at Lehigh on Friday evening. They were among five athletes who competed for Villanova in the nearby meet at Rauch Field House. There were also three athletes competing for the Wildcats in the pole vault.
