Women's DMR Finishes Fourth at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Day One Results The women's distance medley relay earned fourth place at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday evening at the Randall Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Sophomore Bogdana Mimic led off for the Wildcats to run the 1,200m leg in 3:28.51 before passing the baton to classmate Christie Verdier who recorded a time of 55.69 in the 400m leg. Freshman Ariann Neutts ran the 800m leg in 2:08.91 and handed off to junior Sheila Reid who ran a fast 1,600m in 4:36.06 to launch Villanova in to fourth place. The quartet combined to run 11:09.16 and earn All-American honors for finishing in the top-eight. Tennessee took the title in 10:58.37 followed by Oregon who finished in 10:58.96. Georgetown was third. Senior Nicole Schappert finished in 4:47.46 in the preliminaries of the mile run to earn 13th place. Reid, Mimic, Schappert and junior Ali Smith will compete in the finals of the 3,000m run on Saturday at 8:10 p.m. CT.
