VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova track and field squad is set for the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships beginning Friday, March 13 in College Station, Texas. The championships are hosted by Texas A&M University and will be held in Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium at the McFerrin Athletic Center.
The Wildcats have four individuals qualified to events and the men's distance medley relay.
On the men's side, senior Sean Tully will run the 800m. The preliminary is scheduled for Friday at 6:15 CT. The top two runners in each heat advance to the final, plus the next four fastest times. The men's DMR has qualified and will run the final-only on Friday. Tully, senior Elvis Lewis and sophomores Jason Apwah and Matthew Gibney will take the track at 8:40 p.m. CT.
Senior Frances Koons and sophomore Amanda Marino will run the 5,000m final-only beginning at 7:05 p.m. CT on Friday. Koons will return to the track on Saturday to compete in the 3,000m run final-only which is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CT.
Sophomore Sheila Reid has qualified in the mile. The preliminary is scheduled for Friday at 4:00 p.m. CT. The top three runners in each heat, plus the next four fastest times will advance to the finals.
