Koons and Haglund Advance to Finals at NCAA Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa - NCAA Results Senior Frances Koons advanced to the finals in the 5,000 meter run at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday. The championships are being held in Des Moines, Iowa and are hosted by Drake University. Koons ran the 5,000m in 17:23.33 and was second in her heat. The top six finishers in each heat plus the next four times move on to the finals. Koons will race in the finals on Friday, June 13 beginning at 9:15 p.m. CT. Senior Liz Haglund advanced to the finals in the 3,000m steeplechase earlier in the evening. Haglund crossed the finish line in 10:25.48, qualifying by time. She will compete in the finals on Friday, June 13 beginning at 7:25 p.m. CT. Senior Arusha McKenzie ran a strong race in the 800m preliminaries and finished fifth in her heat, but just missed out advancing to the finals by four spots. Her time in the 800m was 2:08.96.
