Freshman Sarah Morrison Qualifies to NCAA Regionals in Steeplechase

Villanova strong in day 2 of ECAC Championships

In day two at the ECAC Championships, held in Princeton, N.J., Villanova had a strong showing, advancing several athletes into Sunday's finals and had several NCAA Regional qualifiers.

On Friday night freshman Sarah Morrison placed fourth in the steeplechase with an NCAA qualifying time of 10:44.81. The time is a personal best by eight seconds.

Senior Liz Haglund and freshman Callie Hogan qualified to Sunday's finals in the 1,500m. Haglund crossed the finish line in 4:26.58, while Hogan was right behind her recording a time of 4:27.00. both times were NCAA qaulifying marks.

Two Wildcats advanced to Sunday's finals in the 800m. Senior Arusha McKenzie won the heat with a regional qualifying time of 2:06.68, while senior Akilah Vargas also advanced to the finals finishing in 2:07.44, which was an NCAA qualifying time. Neither will run in Sunday's finals due to graduation.
