Bogdana Mimic Runs Top Time at Seamus McGelligott Invitational
Feb. 5, 2012
HAVERFORD, Pa.--Senior Bogdana Mimic (Pancevo, Serbia) ran the sixth-fastest time in the nation this season in the 3000 meters at the Seamus McGelligott Invitational at Alumni Field House on Saturday afternoon, where she was one of two Villanova athletes in competition.
Mimic came in first out of 27 competitors in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:14.95 in her first individual race of the indoor season. Her time is the fastest of any BIG EAST runner to this point in the season and ranks sixth in the entire nation. Mimic also came within less than two seconds of earning an automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Championships next month; just four athletes in the nation have met the automatic standard so far this year.
In addition to Mimic freshman Dominique Campbell (Washington, D.C.) made her collegiate debut by competing in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters. She came in third out of 31 entries in the 200 meters with a time of 27.69 and placed fourth out of 26 competitors in the 60 meters with a time of 8.51.
