Penn Relays: Wildcats Advance in 4x400 Meter Relay
A successful opening day of the Penn Relays started with Villanova posting strong results in the 400 meter hurdles in the very first race of the morning, and the team’s momentum carried through to the 5000 meters which ended during the heart of distance night at Franklin Field. The day was highlighted by the Wildcats winning the Championship of America title in the distance medley relay. Villanova also advanced out of the preliminary heats in the 4x400 meter relay.

Penn Relays: McElroy, 1984 Women’s DMR Earn Wall of Fame Induction
A new class of inductees to the Penn Relays Wall of Fame was announced on Monday afternoon and Villanova will continue its unrivaled history at the world’s most historic track meet with both an individual athlete and a relay team among the Wall of Fame honorees. Distance runner Brian McElroy will be inducted onto the Wall of Fame for his accomplishments as both a scholastic runner and during his collegiate career. The women’s 1984 distance medley relay team of Mary Ellen McGowan, Veronica McIntosh, Patty Bradley and Lauren Searby will also be inducted.
Wildcats Win Eight Events at Haverford Invitational
A group of 11 athletes were in competition for Villanova on Wednesday afternoon at the Haverford Invitational. The local meet was postponed by a day due to the heavy rain that fell in the area. Led by senior Melissa June (Massapequa, N.Y.) winning both the 100 meters and the 200 meters, the Wildcats tallied a total of eight first-place finishes on the day.
Women’s Track & Field Wraps Up Weekend at Larry Ellis Invitational
Senior hurdler Veronica Scott (Plymouth, N.H.) came in fifth in the 400 meter hurdles, while freshman McKenna Keegan (West Grove, Pa.) and junior Sidney Hayes (Spring Grove, Pa.) each placed in the top 10 in the 400 meters during the Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Villanova wrapped up two days of competition at the local meet with several sprint races and the pole vault being contested on a cold and damp afternoon.
Women's Track & Field Starts Strong at Larry Ellis Invitational
Freshmen sprinters McKenna Keegan (West Grove, Pa.) and Amari Onque-Shabazz (Plainfield, N.J.) were the top two Villanova runners in the elite section of the 800 meters as the Wildcats got underway at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday evening. Two days of competition at Weaver Stadium began with Villanova competing in three running events and one field event.
Piccirillo and Hutchinson Go 1-2 in 800 Meters in Miami
Senior Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) and sophomore Nicole Hutchinson (West Vancouver, B.C.) each recorded personal best times in the 800 meters and combined for a 1-2 finish at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Villanova had five of the top six finishers in the 800 meters at Cobb Stadium, part of a big day of competition overall for the team.
Danielle Burns Finishes Fourth in 100 Meter Hurdles at Princeton
Freshman sprinter Danielle Burns (Phoenix, Ariz.) tallied a fourth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles and Villanova competed in several sprint events as the Sam Howell Invitational came to a conclusion at Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Four different Wildcats tallied top-eight finishes on the second day of the meet.
