Erickson Registers Personal Best Mark in Shot Put at Covert Classic
Junior thrower Kristen Erickson (Princeton, Mass.) and freshman sprinter Niki Cleary (Flemington, N.J.) each established new personal bests during competition at the Covert Classic on Saturday afternoon. Villanova had three athletes in competition at the local meet, held at Rauch Field House on the Lehigh campus.
Fisher and Russo Post Personal Best Times in 5000 Meters at Penn State National
Villanova competed in four events during the first day of competition at the Penn State National on Friday evening. Highlighting the team's results at Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track were personal best times in the 5000 meters recorded by sophomore Katie Fisher (Uxbridge, Ont.) and junior Alexandra Russo (Bellport, N.Y.). Also in action for the Wildcats were athletes in the 60 meters, the distance medley relay and the pentathlon.
Women’s Track & Field Posts Successful Results at Gotham Cup
Villanova beat the impending blizzard with a number of successful performances at the Gotham Cup on Friday afternoon. A total of 15 athletes from the Wildcats competed in nine different events during the meet at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex. Highlighting the day for Villanova were personal bests in the 400 meters by senior Alyssa Lombardo (Bethlehem, Pa.) and the shot put by freshman Alex Zimmerman (Lititz, Pa.).
Piccirillo Runs Second-Fastest 1000 Meters in School History at Great Dane Classic
Senior middle distance runner Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) was on the cusp of a record-breaking performance as she ran the second-fastest 1000 meters in Villanova history on Saturday night. Piccirillo posted a time of 2:43.04 and approached the long-standing school record held by Wildcats head coach Gina Procaccio. Strong performances by Piccirillo and several other Villanova athletes led the Wildcats to a runner-up finish out of 26 teams that competed in the Great Dane Classic at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex.
Russo and Bockoven Pick Up Wins at Villanova Open
Junior Alexandra Russo (Bellport, N.Y.) and freshman Sammy Bockoven (Hudson, Ohio) tallied wins in the Mile and the 1000 meters, respectively, during competition at the Villanova Open on Friday afternoon. The meet marked the first visit for the Wildcats to the brand new Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island and was also the first of six times that Villanova will compete at the venue this season.

The meet, which has attracted a number of top teams and athletes from the area, gets underway at 12 p.m.
Women’s Track & Field Wins Seven Events at Jack Pyrah Invitational
Villanova began the 2015-16 indoor track & field season on a high note by hosting the Jack Pyrah Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The meet was held at Alumni Gym on the Haverford College campus and the Wildcats won eight different events on a successful day overall. The first place finishes came in two sprints, three middle distance races and three field events.
Women's Track & Field Team Opens Indoor Season at Jack Pyrah Invitational
The first of three home meets during the 2015-16 indoor track & field season takes place on Saturday afternoon when Villanova hosts the Jack Pyrah Invitational, a local event which has attracted a large number of area teams over the years. This is the 13th straight year that the Wildcats are hosting the meet, which is named for the longtime Villanova coach. Saturday's meet will begin with throwing events at 11 a.m. in the Pavilion on the Villanova campus. All running and field events will take place in Alumni Field House on the Haverford College campus, with field events there starting at 11 a.m., followed by running events at 12 p.m.
