Shanice Grant Records Pair of Career Bests at Colonial Relays
On a full day of action at the Colonial Relays, junior sprinter Shanice Grant (Kingston, Jamaica) was the top performer for Villanova at Zable Stadium on Friday afternoon. Grant recorded personal best performances in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meters and also moved up on the Wildcats all-time performance lists in each event. Villanova registered a total of four first-place finishes on Friday, with the meet set to continue on Saturday morning.
Wildcats Wrap Up Competition at Danny Curran Invitational
The second day of competition at the Danny Curran Invitational wrapped up in frigid conditions on Saturday afternoon, where Villanova had athletes competing in four different events. Senior Kathleen McPhillips (Carlisle, Pa.) led a group of six Wildcats in the pole vault with a first place finish. Villanova also had entries in the hammer, javelin and 100 meter hurdles.
Women's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season with Strong Results at Philadelphia College Classic
In its first meet of the outdoor track & field season, Villanova had a successful day of competition in the Philadelphia College Classic on Saturday afternoon. A total of 24 athletes competed in seven running and six field events at Franklin Field, with a pair of first-place finishes among the storylines for the meet.
Piccirillo and Schappert Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Championships
In the final of the Mile at the NCAA Championships, junior Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) and senior Stephanie Schappert (Delray Beach, Fla.) came in seventh and ninth, respectively, at Randal Tyson Track on Saturday night. They wrapped up competition for Villanova at the national meet and Piccirillo becomes the 17th athlete from the Wildcats to score a top-eight finish in the Mile.

Middle distance runners Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) and Stephanie Schappert (Delray Beach, Fla.) each advanced to the final in the Mile at the NCAA Championships on Friday night. An indoor season that has already been a very successful one reaches its pinnacle when Villanova competes at the NCAA Championships this weekend. The national meet takes place on Friday and Saturday at Randal Tyson Track in Fayetteville, Ark., with the competition airing live on ESPN3 each night. Senior Stephanie Schappert (Delray Beach, Fla.) and junior Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) will each compete in the Mile and the Wildcats are also qualified for the championships in the distance medley relay.
Piccirillo and Procaccio Named Top Athlete and Coach in Mid-Atlantic Region
Junior middle distance runner Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) and head coach Gina Procaccio have been named the top athlete and coach in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the indoor season, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Friday afternoon. Piccirillo was selected as the region's Women's Track Athlete of the Year, while Procaccio earned Head Coach of the Year honors.
Wildcats Earn All-BIG EAST Honors In 12 Different Events
The listing of All-BIG EAST honors from last week's conference championships was announced on Friday morning and Villanova had athletes recognized in 12 different events. The top three finishers in each of the 20 different events that make up the BIG EAST Championships garner all-conference accolades. This is only the third time ever that the Wildcats have recorded All-BIG EAST performances in a dozen or more events.
