LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Villanova women's tennis team will open its fall season this weekend when it travels to Lewisburg, Pa. to compete at the Bucknell Invitational.

The tournament will begin Friday morning and conclude Sunday afternoon with three singles draws and two doubles brackets taking place at the Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats return two seniors from a year ago, including team captain Mikelle Mancini and former Scranton Prep standout, Anne Cognetti.

"After training hard in the offseason and improving as a squad, we are looking forward to competing against other teams, Villanova head coach Steve Reiniger said. "It will be great to have the new faces see some live action at the collegiate level."

A year ago, sophomores Tori Smyth and Allison Kuse were crowned the Bucknell Invitational Doubles Champions after defeating Bucknell's Steph Pino and Jen Bush, 8-3.

Villanova finished 6-15 last season but a plethora of incoming freshman joins the squad looking to make some noise in a new look BIG EAST.
