Villanova Falls to Bucknell in Women's TennisLEWISBURG, Pa. -- In a match played in Lewisburg, Pa, the Villanova women's tennis dropped a 7-2 decision to Bucknell University. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 4-4 on the season. Villanova got a strong effort from junior Colleen Obsitnik (Lansing, Mich/Okemos H.S.) at No. 2 singles. Obsitnik downed Bucknell's Kristin Jones in straight sets by scores 6-3, 6-1. The day's most exciting match came at No. 4 singles where Villanova sophomore Katie Cooper (Summit, NJ/ Oak Knoll School) lost a hard-fought 7-5, 7-6 decision to Blakely Lauric. In doubles play, the Villanova duo of Dorothy Bellock (Hinsdale, Ill/Benet Academy) and Obsitnik downed Bucknell's Leah Lenor and Kerry Callaghan by a score of 8-6. The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, Oct. 2 when they travel to Lafayette for a 3 p.m. match.
