Villanova, Pa. - On Friday, Oct. 5, the women's tennis team picked up yet another win on the 2001 season defeating LaSalle University in a non-league match-up played at the Villanova Tennis Complex in Villanova, Pa. After dropping the first match on the afternoon, the Wildcats rallied to win the next five en route to the 6-1 victory. With the win, Villanova stays a perfect 5-0 on the year as the Explores drop to 2-2.

The Wildcats swept through doubles action winning all three of their matches on the day. The senior tandem of Julie Darne and Ashley Young led Villanova at the top spot picking up an 8-3 victory. Sophomore Jessie Rybacki and freshman Courtney Flezzani teamed up at the second post gaining their first win of the season while Liz Farrell and Erica Walter were also victorious at No. 3 doubles.

After dropping the first singles match, Flezzani led the Wildcat charge defeating LaSalle's Cristina Stefan after she was forced to retire in the second set. With the victory, Flezzani gained her tenth singles win on the year improving her overall record to 10-1. Other Wildcats notching victories on the afternoon included sophomore Kelly McAndrew, junior Jen Zick, Farrell and Walter. All four Villanova players defeated their respective Explorer opponent in straight sets.

Villanova will look for their sixth straight win on Wed., Oct. 10 when they host the University of Delaware Blue Hens in a non-league showdown. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Villanova Tennis Complex.
