Wildcats Calm the Storm En Route to 7-2 Win
Oct. 6, 2000 Jamaica, N.Y. --- On Friday, October 6th, the Villanova women's tennis team defeated St. John's by a match score of 7-2. The team wrapped up their fall play with this match and finished a perfect 7-0 on the season. Ashley Young also went down in the books as having a perfect season for the 'Cats. The junior defeated St. John's Mirela Blanaru, 6-0 and 6-2, in straight sets to remain unbeaten in the fall 2000 season. Villanova junior Sara Fabrizio saw her first action of the season, and went on to beat the Storms' Vanessa Sanmortin, 6-0 and 6-0 at sixth singles. In doubles competition on the afternoon, the Wildcats' second team of Anne Morgan and Jennifer Zick also recorded their seventh victory of the season as they defeated the Red Storm's pairing of Blanaru and Miccolis 8-3.
