Women's Tennis Falls to Delaware

NEWARK, De--Courtney Flezzani and Lindsey Puchyr each won their singles matches but the Villanova women's tennis squad (2-2) fell to the Delaware Blue Hens (6-0) Tuesday afternoon, 5-2, at the Delaware Field House Tennis Courts. Delaware was victorious in four out of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to come away with the victory. Flezzani defeaed Jamie deGraffenreid at No. 4 singles by a convincing score of 6-2, 6-1. Lindsey Puchyr battled back from a one set deficit to defeat Brittany Barsky, 2-6, 7-5 (10-6). Despite losing her match at No. 1 singles, Candice Carlin forced Susan Pollack to a three-set battle, coming back from a 0-6 first set to reverse the score in the second. In doubles, Colleen Speaker and Courtney Flezzani won their No. 2 doubles match over Barsky and Katie Miller, 8-3. The Wildcats return to action Thursday, October 7th when they travel to La Salle to take on the Explorers. Match time is 3:00 PM.
