PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Villanova women's tennis team wrapped up its second tournament of the season Sunday when it took the courts at the SJU Tennis Complex on the final day of the Saint Joseph's Invitational.
The Wildcats finished the tournament recording two doubles wins and nine singles victories against players from Delaware, Drexel, Fairfield, Lafayette, Loyola and Temple.
Gianna Mitchell won the lone match on the afternoon for Villanova in the Singles Flight IV Consolation Draw, dominating Drexel's Tilles in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. The freshman would finish as the runner-up after falling to Spellberg of Lafayette, 7-5, 6-3, in the championship.
Allison Kuse advanced to the Flight II Singles semifinals with two victories on Saturday before falling to Delaware's Naumova, 6-0, 6-3.
The Wildcats will return to action next weekend for their final tournament of the season when it travels to Yorktown, Va. for the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational Oct. 4-6.
