Riverdale, N.Y. --- The Villanova Wildcat women's tennis team traveled to Riverdale, N.Y. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 where they fell to the Fordham Rams by a score of 4-3. With the loss, the 'Cats drop to 1-1 on the year while the Rams open up their season at 1-0.

The match started with the Wildcats taking two of three doubles matches. Villanova was led by senior co-captains Stephanie Ariot and Jen Zick who notched their first win of the season at the top doubles spot. At third doubles, sophomore Morgan Flezzani and junior Erica Walter defeated their Ram opponents by the score of 8-6.

In singles action, junior Jessie Rybacki recorded her third win of the season to stay undefeated staging a come-from-behind victory after dropping the first, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Rookie Lindsey Puchyr also won in three sets at fifth singles defeating Alexandra Cazargin 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.

The Wildcats will return to action this weekend when they will participate in the Haverford Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22.
