LEWISBURG, Pa.— The Wildcats women’s tennis team kicked off the 2017 fall campaign at the Bison Invitational. In their first match of the season, Villanova completed a sweep of Bucknell, 4-0.
In match one, all Wildcats earned victories that would advance them to round two. Freshman, Lexi DeNucci had a strong first showing as a Wildcat as she was crowned the winner in singles in draw one. She also won the doubles draw with freshmen partner Kaylan Rotman.
During the second draw, the Wildcats continued to dominate as Carina Burdick, Kaylan Rotman, and Paulina Bajet all advanced to the third and final round of the second draw. Burdick was crowned the winner of the draw.
Next was doubles the matches. A trio of doubles teams participated for the Wildcats, as the duo of Rotman and Lexi DeNucci came out on top. Other teams participating in the doubles matches were Papich and Koch, Burdick and Alexandra Krogius.
The Wildcats will be back in action at the Saint Joseph’s Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sept 29.
