Women's Tennis Downed at Saint Joseph's

MERION STATION, Pa. - The Villanova women's tennis team (3-12) was unable to get over the hump Thursday against local rival Saint Joseph's (12-7) as the Wildcats fell 6-1 on the SJU Tennis Complex Courts at Maguire Campus.

Losers of its last seven, Villanova falls to 3-12 on the season and 3-6 away from home. The Hawks improve to 12-7 overall and moves its winning streak to four.

Saint Joseph's gained an early advantage when they clinched the doubles point with a sweep in all three matches.

Connor Brewer picked up the only point of the afternoon when she defeated Lauren Roy, 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 6 flight.

The Wildcats will return to action on the road when they travel to New Brunswick, N.J. to take on familiar foe Rutgers Friday at 2 p.m.
