Piscataway, N.J. --- On Tuesday, April 2, the Villanova women's tennis team was swept in Big East action to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at the Rutgers Tennis Complex by a score of 7-0. With the loss, the Wildcats drop to 7-6 on the season and 0-4 in Big East Play while Rutgers improves to 10-7 overall, 4-2 in conference play.

In singles action, sophomore Jessie Rybacki jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead in the first set at the No. 3 spot before the Scarlet Knight's Andrea Weckstein rallied to win the set, 7-5, and closed out the match by winning the second set, 6-3. At No. 1 singles, senior Ashley Young was defeated by Carissa Sommerland 6-3, 6-3 while Julie Darne dropped a 6-3, 6-3 score to Jennifer Hellier at second singles.

In doubles play, Young and Darne paired up at the No. 1 spot where they dropped a 8-4 match to Sommerland and Amanda Travlos. Rybacki and classmate Kelly McAndrew also fell to Hellier and Weckstein at second doubles by an 8-3 score.

The Wildcats will resume play tomorrow afternoon, April 3, when they travel to Baltimore, Md. to square off against UMBC at 3:00 p.m.
