Villanova, Pa. --- On Saturday, March 30, the Villanova University women's tennis team was beaten by the visiting Pittsburgh Panthers 4-3 at the Villanova Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Wildcats now stands at 7-5 on the season.

Julie Darne led Villanova on the afternoon in both singles and doubles action. The senior, playing at No. 2 singles, defeated Pitt's Nikki Borza 6-0, 6-2 to gain her seventh victory of the season. Freshman Courtney Flezzani improved her overall season record to 14-2 defeating Jena Fiore at the fourth spot.

In doubles play, Darne and fellow classmate Ashley Young led Villanova winning 8-6 at the No. 1 spot. Sophomores Jessie Rybacki and Kelly McAndrews, playing at No. 2 doubles, and Jen Zick and Liz Farrell, at the third spot, were also victorious winning 8-5 and 9-8, respectively.

Villanova will return to action on Tuesday, April 2 when the travel to Piscataway, N.J. to battle Rutgers University in a Big East showdown at 3:00 p.m.
