Mancini Wins at First Singles in 6-1 Loss to Pittsburgh

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Despite an early threat of rain Villanova (2-7) hosted Pittsburgh (7-6) in its first home match of the year against a BIG EAST opponent and the Wildcats were defeated 6-1 at the West Campus Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Mikelle Mancini (Salt Lake City, Utah) accounted for the lone team point for Villanova with a victory at the No. 1 singles spot.
Mancini won for the third time in the last four matches thanks to a victory in a tie-breaker over Jocelyn Lu. Mancini outlasted Lu 10-7 in the tiebreaker after winning the first set 7-6 (8-6) and falling 7-5 in the second set.
