Women's Tennis Falls to Hoyas 6-1

Washington, D.C. --- On Tuesday, March 23, the Villanova Wildcat women's tennis team traveled south where they dropped a 6-1 contest to the Georgetown Hoyas in the second match of the Big East season. Junior Jennifer Zick (Colts Neck, N.J./St. John Vianney) led the Wildcats on the afternoon as she was victorious in three sets at sixth singles. Zick defeated the Hoyas' Lara Madonia, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, to improve her season record to 8-3 at the No. 6 spot. In doubles play, seniors Ashley Young (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) and Julie Darne (Bridel, Luxembourg/Bradenton Academy) teamed up to beat Georgetown's Caroline Marshall and Lydia Bartell, 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles spot. With the loss, Villanova drops to 6-4 on the year and 0-2 in conference action while the Hoyas improve to an overall 4-5 and 2-0 in the Big East.
The Wildcats will return on Tuesday, March 25 when they host the Temple Owls at 4:00 p.m. at the Villanova Tennis Complex.
