VILLANOVA, Pa. - One doubles match proved to be the difference on Thursday afternoon as the Villanova women's tennis squad fell just short of George Mason, 4-3, at the Villanova Tennis Complex. The Patriots won two of the three doubles matches, which gave George Mason the winning point, as each team won three singles matches. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 4-7 on the season.

Sophomore Leighann Reilly (Voorhees, N.J.) cruised to her win at No. 3 singles, defeating Mason's Jenn Dektas, 6-0, 6-3. Senior Morgan Flezzani (Pfafftown, N.C.) also won easily at No. 4 singles, defeating Jamie Delorie, 6-3, 6-2.

Freshman Zoe Murray battled to a 7-6, 6-4 win over Julia Moscato for a win at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Candice Carlin (Moorestown, N.J.), senior Courtney Flezzani (Pfafftown, N.C.), and junior Lindsey Puchyr (Allentown, Pa.) fought hard but each lost close singles matches.

In doubles action, senior Morgan Flezzani (Pfafftown, N.C.) and Puchyr teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 3 singles.

Carlin and Flezzani lost at No. 1 doubles, 8-4, while Reilly and senior Melissa Reed (Wyomissing, Pa.) lost a close No. 2 match, 8-6.

The women return to action on Tuesday, March 29, when they host Towson. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
