Villanova Drops First Conference Match to Seton Hall

VILLANOVA, Pa. - In its home debut, the Villanova women's tennis team (3-6) drops its first conference match of the season as the Wildcats fall 5-2 to Seton Hall (9-5) Friday afternoon at the Villanova Tennis Complex.
The Pirates put the first point on the board following a clean sweep in all three doubles matches. Seton Hall would go on to secure its first BIG EAST win of the year after triumphs at the number one, three, four and five positions.
Samantha Schafer (River Forest, Ill.) breezed by Hannah Liljkevist, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 2 singles slot to clinch Villanova's first point of the afternoon.
At the No. 6 slot Kate Pettee (New Canaan, Conn.) earned her third consecutive victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Julie Martiny at the No. 6 slot.
The Wildcats (4-8) will host city rival Temple Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Villanova Tennis Complex.
