Villanova, Pa. --- On Sunday, March 17, the Villanova women's tennis team opened up the Big East season dropping a 6-1 contest to the Seton Hall Pirates at the Villanova tennis complex. With the loss, the Wildcats drop their third straight of the spring season and hold an overall 6-3 record.

For the day, Villanova was led by senior Julie Darne who recorded the Wildcat's only straight set victory at the No. 2 slot over Seton Hall's Kyli Lassalle, 6-4, 6-3. In doubles action, Liz Farrell and Kelly McAndrew teammed up at the third spot to defeat the Pirates' Beth Dugan and Jasmine Wolcott by a final score of 9-8.

The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, March 20 when they host Lehigh University at 2:30 p.m.
