Women's Tennis Now 8-3 on the Season with Win Over Blue Hens

NEWARK, DE - The Villanova women's tennis team recorded a victory over non-league rival University of Delaware on Sunday, March by a match score of 6-1 at the Carpenter Sports Building Courts. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday but was postponed a day due to inclement weather. On the afternoon, Delaware lost its season opener to the Wildcats who now carry an overall season record of 8-3. Villanova got singles wins from Julie Darne over Elly Giese 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 1, Stephane Ariot defeated Jessica Wilkes 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 2, Ashley Young snapped Martine Street's 11-match win streak with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3, Jessica Rybacki downed Anisha Talati 6-3 and 6-1 at No. 4, and Kelly McAndrew defeated Jessica Quittman 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5. Doubles winners for the Wildcats included the No. 2 pairing of Ashley Young and Jessie Rybacki and the team of Anne Morgan and Jen Zick at the No. 3 post.
