Stoller and Carlson Earn Big East Weekly Honors
May. 1, 2000 Providence, R.I. - After leading the Villanova University softball team to an 8-2 week and into the Big East Tournament for the first time since 1996, junior Keri Stoller and freshman Sara Carlson captured Big East Conference Co-Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively. Stoller was 3-1 last week with a 0.28 ERA as the Wildcats won four straight to qualify for the BIG EAST Championship with a 9-7 conference mark. In 24.2 IP, she struck out 31 batters, allowed one earned run and walked only three. Stoller defeated Boston College and Providence last weekend to raise her league record to 6-0. This is the second time this season that Stoller was named Big East Co-Pitcher of the Week. Carlson hit .412 (14-for-34) last week, including 14 RBI and three home runs, to earn rookie honors for the second straight week. Carlson also added 10 runs scored, five doubles and two triples for the Wildcats. The Wildcats, the #3 seed, now head into a game versus Connecticut, the #2 seed, on Friday at 1:30pm in the first round of the 2000 Big East Tournament.
