Box Score

Villanova, Pa. - Villanova entered game two of the doubleheader with DePaul thinking that their offense would improve after getting just one hit in game one. But Blue Demon starting pitcher Becca Henteniak had other ideas, as she pitched a no-hitter to help DePaul to the two game sweep of the Wildcats with a 6-0 win in game two.

The game started out as a pitcher's duel, as Villanova's Kat Walsh matched Henteniak with "0's" over the first four innings.

Walsh was able to get out of a couple jams in the first and second innings to keep the game scoreless while Henteniak was having an easier time navigating the Wildcats' lineup.

The Blue Demons (38-10, 18-0) finally broke through with three runs in the fifth inning, two coming on an RBI single from Marcy Wilus.

Three more runs would come across for DePaul in the sixth off Megan Hord, who came on in relief to start the sixth inning. The big blow in this inning came on a two-run single off the bat of Sandy Vojik.

Walsh (6-8) suffered the loss for Villanova (25-29-1, 5-15), despite pitching very well over the first four-plus innings. Her final line showed she allowed three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks.

Just as she did in game one, Megan Hord came on in relief to pitch the final two innings. She would surrender three runs on four hits and one walk.

When all was said and done, it was the first time Villanova had been no-hit since May 1, 1999 when Boston College turned the trick in a 1-0 win over the Wildcats.

Prior to the start of the second game, Villanova head coach Maria DiBernardi was presented with the game ball from her 600th win on April 22 against Providence.

Villanova will conclude their season on Sunday by hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a doubleheader starting at noon.
