CHICAGO, Ill. - The Villanova softball team falls to 5-13 in the BIG EAST following a 15-0 defeat on the road by DePaul at Cacciatore Stadium in Chicago, Ill.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 17-31 overall with only four games remaining on the season.

The Blue Demons utilized five hits and an error to take a 4-0 advantage following the first frame. Kaity Sitzman relieved starter Kate Poppe with two outs and got Gena Lenti to groundout to first base to end the inning.

Poppe collects the loss to move her record to 12-22 on the year. The sophomore allowed four runs with only two of them coming in earned run fashion.

In the second, DePaul tacked on a pair of runs fueled by a two-run single by Dylan Christensen to make it 6-0. Freshman Jordan Prutzer subbed in for Sitzman to get the final two outs of the inning. The senior righty allowed two runs on three hits. Nine runs off Prutzer in the fourth inning made it 15-0 for the Blue Demons.

Kristen Verdun picked up her 25th triumph, allowing no hits for the second time during her five innings of complete work.

The Wildcats return to the diamond Tuesday for a home conference showdown against Penn (18-19). First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at the Villanova Softball Complex.
