In game one, senior Jessica deLuca went two-for-four and sophomore Melissa Crombet went two-for-three with a run scored and two RBI to spark Villanova to a 4-1 victory. Sophomore Megan O'Leary, who leads the Cats in homeruns and RBI, also contributed with two hits and one RBI on the day.
On the mound for Villanova, sophomore Carrie Walpole got her ninth win of the season, pitching five shutout innings, and giving up only two hits. Senior Brenda Roach relieved Walpole in the sixth and pitched two strong innings for her fifth save, striking out three batters.
In the day's second game, the Wildcats' offense came alive scoring two runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings and one run in both the second and fifth innings, en route to a 8-1 victory. Senior Kelli McCoy led the attack with a three-for-four, three RBI effort. Sophomore Mia Brickhouse also contributed three hits in the contest, while senior Kelli Sparks had a hit and two RBI.
Getting the win for the Wildcats in game two was senior Jen Cornelius, who hurled four innings, surrendering only two hits and one unearned run. Freshman Keri Stoller came on to pitch the final three innings for the save, giving up two hits and a walk, while striking out three.
The Wildcats will resume their schedule on Thursday, April 23, traveling to St. Joseph's to face off against the Hawks at 3:30 p.m.
