GREENVILLE, N.C.---Sarah Wall blasted a three-run homer in the fifth inning to decide a 6-0 victory over Fordham in the championship round of play on Sunday at the Holiday Inn Express Pirate Classic hosted by East Carolina University. The win advanced the Wildcats to the semifinals, where they fell 2-1 to the College of Charleston. Villanova is now 3-3 on the season.

During the victory over the Rams, Villanova got on the board early, as Kari Koller sent Sheri Donley home off a RBI-single. Donley hit a double earlier and was able to advance home.

In the fifth inning, Kayla Felty advanced on an error. Lisa Krueger came in and hit a double, before Allie Wisniewski's sacrifice fly would score Felty. Donley then hit a second double and Koller intentionally walked before Wall's home run would send all three batters across home plate.

Shannon Williams pitched a complete game, giving up just four hits and striking out three.

Kristen Haynes pitched the complete seven innings versus the College of Charleston, giving up two solo home runs. Villanova managed 10 hits and a RBI from Koller. In three separate innings, the Cougars had runners in scoring position and no outs, but Haynes got the Wildcats out of the predicament without giving up runs in any of the three innings.

The Wildcats return to action on Feb. 25-27 when they compete at the Virginia Beach Classic in Virginia Beach, Va.
