Linda Goss is entering her 23rd season as the associate head coach of the Villanova softball program. Goss's presence has been integral to Villanova's success. She has worked with head coach Maria DiBernardi for 595 of her 625 victories. Goss began coaching the Wildcats upon her graduation from Villanova University in 1986, when she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. While a student-athlete at Villanova, she played four years of softball as a first baseman. In addition to her coaching duties at Villanova, Goss is also the co-owner of Villanova Fastpitch Softball Camps. Goss and DiBernardi run clinics and camps throughout the year. Goss has focused on building success both on the field and in the classroom throughout her coaching career. Through this philosophy, Goss has helped produce 60 BIG EAST All-Conference Players along with 147 BIG EAST Academic All Stars. Following the 2008 season Jackie Dempsey was selected to the third team All-BIG EAST, while Meghan Morese was named a second team All-Northeast Region selection. 12 student-athletes were selected to the BIG EAST Academic All-Star squad. The 2008 Wildcats were named an NFCA All-Academic team for having finished the season with a combined GPA of 3.238. Villanova ranked 41st out of 103 schools on the list. Goss has been employed at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia since 1986 and received her master's in pediatric nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992. She is the Interim Nurse Manager in the Cardiac Center of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She resides in Media, Pa. with her daughter Casey. |
