Villanova Can't Keep Up With Lehigh
On a rainy Wednesday afternoon, the Villanova Wildcats (21-23, 8-7 BIG EAST) took on the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (31-6, 11-1 Patriot) and were defeated by a score of 7-1. The scheduled doubleheader had to be lessened to just a single game due to a rain delay. It was the first ever game played at Lehigh's brand new Leadership Park.

The Villanova Wildcats will play the DePaul Blue Demons in a conference series this upcoming weekend.
Softball Ready for Mid-Week Doubleheaders
The Villanova Wildcats (21-22, 8-7 BIG EAST) are gearing up for two separate doubleheaders this week against opponents in the Patriot League. The first one will come on Wednesday in Bethlehem, Pa. against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (30-6, 11-1 Patriot). The second one will be on Thursday in Easton, Pa. against the Lafayette Leopards (3-31, 1-14 Patriot).
Poppe Recognized by BIG EAST
Kate Poppe has been honored by the BIG EAST for her performance this past week, the conference announced Monday. It is the ninth time in her career and the third time this season Poppe has been named to the BIG EAST honor roll.
Wildcats Earn Second Walk-Off Win of the Week
In the rubber match of their three-game weekend series against the Providence Friars (10-20, 4-9 BIG EAST), the Villanova Wildcats (21-22, 8-7 BIG EAST) came up with their second walk-off win of the week in front of the biggest crowd of the season. On Tuesday, Mackenzie Tilles hit a walk-off two run homer in the bottom of the 11th. Today, Lauren Herschberg grounded to second and Tianah Hathaway was able to scamper home before the tag could be applied.
Villanova Uses Clutch Sixth Inning to Down Friars
In the second game of a doubleheader against the Providence Friars (10-19, 4-8 BIG EAST), the Villanova Wildcats (20-22, 7-7 BIG EAST) were victorious 5-4. The Wildcats used the sixth inning to break the tie and score what would be the game-winning run.
Kate Poppe Breaks Villanova Career Strikeout Record in Game One
In the first game of their three game weekend series against the Providence Friars (10-19, 4-8 BIG EAST), the Villanova Wildcats (20-22, 7-7) were defeated by a score of 2-1 in 10 innings. Kate Poppe started the game with nine strikeouts to go to tie the all-time Villanova career strikeout record and she ended the game with 13 to tie and break the record.
Softball to Host Strike Out Cancer & Youth Day vs. Providence
The Villanova Wildcats (19-21, 6-6 BIG EAST) will come home this weekend to face the incoming Providence Friars (9-18, 3-7 BIG EAST). The Wildcats will go into the weekend after a 1-2 week. The Friars will be coming into the matchup after three straight games that have been decided in less than seven innings.
