VILLANOVA, PA. - On Monday, Dec. 3, Villanova University women's soccer player Michelle Biehl (Southampton, Pa./ Archbishop Wood) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Mid Atlantic third team.

A redshirt freshman defender, Biehl had a tremendous 2001 campaign for Villanova earning Big East All-Rookie team honors and leading the Wildcats to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

After missing the entire 2000 season with a torn ACL, Biehl returned in top form in 2001. She helped lead Villanova to a 13-6-3 overall record and the program's first berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA second round after defeating the University of Pennsylvania, 2-0, in the tournament's first round at State College, Pa. Villanova's season came to an end in the second round with a 3-0 loss to nationally ranked Penn State.

Biehl finished the 2001 season with one goal and five assists for seven points. She was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week twice during the regular season and also received Soccer Buzz Elite Feet National Team of the Week accolades twice and Soccer America National Team of the Week honors one time.
