Wildcats Set for BIG EAST Quarterfinals Tuesday vs. DePaul

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's soccer team (6-9-3, 3-5-1) takes on the DePaul Blue Demons (11-4-2, 5-3-1) in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Championship on Tuesday, November 5th at Wish Field in Chicago, Ill.. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. ET as the two teams look to advance into the semifinals of the conference tournament. The winner of tomorrow's contest will go on to face Georgetown on Friday, November 8th at Valley Fields in Milwaukee, Wis.
The Wildcats are 4-13-4 in the conference postseason, winning the championship in 2003. DePaul earned the No. 3 seed and earned hosting duties after falling St. John's 3-0 on Saturday night in Jamaica, N.Y. and finished the BIG EAST regular season with 15 points.

Villanova This Season: The Wildcats enter Tuesday's contest with a 3-5-1 BIG EAST record after falling to Providence 1-0 at West Campus Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Wildcats clinched the final slot for a bid to the conference championship with a one point lead over the Friars in the conference point race.
Freshman Katie Martin (Dallas, Texas) leads the team with 22 points via six goals and 10 assists off of 31 shots. Sophomore Reanna Marino (Massapequa, N.Y.) follows closely behind with 10 points off of four goals and two assists while freshman Caroline Brown (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior Caitlin Forte (Selbyville, Del.) have posted eight and seven points each, respectively.11 Wildcats have record points this season through 18 games. Senior goalkeeper Jami Kranich (Hamden, Conn.)has been the mainstay in net for Villanova this season playing all 1,680 minutes between the posts and boasts a 1.45 goals against average and a .740 save percentage.
`Nova vs. DePaul: Thursday will mark the 11th meeting between the Blue Demons and Wildcats with Villanova holding the advantage in the all-time series at 7-2-1. The Wildcats last met DePaul on October 6th, 2013 which ended in a 2-0 loss for Villanova in Chicago, Ill..
A Look at DePaul: The Blue Demons bring an 11-4-2 overall record into Tuesday's matchup and have a 5-3-1 mark in the BIG EAST. DePaul has dropped two of their last three games and have been outscored by a 4-1 margin during that span. Elise Wyatt leads the team with 16 points via six goals and four assists while Ashleigh Goddard follows closely behind with 10 points on the year via four goals and two assists.
