Villanova, Pa. -
The Villanova women's soccer team (5-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) will continue BIG EAST play this week as they take on Seton Hall and Georgetown.
The Wildcats will travel to Seton Hall (0-7-4, 0-1-2 BIG EAST) for a Thursday evening matchup on BEDN before returning home Sunday to host the Georgetown Hoyas (9-2-1, 3-0 BIG EAST) on Nova Nation All Access at 1 p.m.
Last weekend the Wildcats went 1-1 in BIG EAST play, picking up their first conference win on the road at Marquette by a final of 4-1.
"It has been great to see how this team has come together, especially in our BIG EAST game against Marquette," shared senior Emily Kuefler. "We got to see exactly what we can accomplish and how good we can all be when we are on the same page."
Kuefler serves as one of four captains on this season's team and shared that holding that titles means, "I have had to step it up vocally this year. I also have to lead by example; I can't just say something and not do it."
This week the Wildcats will face a Seton Hall team that is still looking for their first win of the season. The Pirates have tied in four of their games this season including two BIG EAST games but still have not picked up a victory. The Hoyas, a team a season ago made a College Cup appearance, has not allowed an opponent goal during all nine of their victories this season. Prior to coming to Villanova, they will host Creighton Thursday afternoon.
Kuefler shared what the Wildcats are focusing in practice this week, "For Seton Hall and Georgetown, we are making sure we are all on the same page and getting back to our system. We kind of went away from it on Sunday, but we are ready to move forward."
Sunday's game will be Youth Day; a free clinic with the coaching staff will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a kid zone before kickoff. Following the game there will be a post-game autograph session. The clinic is open to all children 8th grade and younger. To sign up please email firstname.lastname@example.org
