PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Victoria Gersh (Silver Spring, Md.) has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her two goal performance over Pittsburgh last weekend. The midfielder notched the game-tying and game-winning goals for the 2-1 come from behind victory over the Panthers in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The laurels mark the first of Gersh's career from the conference office. Her four point performance ties a career high set earlier this year when she also netted two goals against La Salle in a 3-2 win on Sept. 9th.
For the season, Gersh currently is first on the team with four goals and second with 10 overall points. Senior Heidi Sabatura (Lawrenceville, N.J.) currently leads the team with 11 points via two goals and seven assists on the year.
Following the conclusion of the weekend games, Villanova (5-6-2, 3-2-0) currently sits in third place in the National Division behind nationally ranked Georgetown and Notre Dame.
Villanova will head back on the road this weekend when they travel to Louisville and Cincinnati on Oct. 5th and 7th. Game times are slated for 7 and 1 p.m., respectively.
