PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior forward Katie Ryan (Wayne, N.J.) has been named to the Honor Roll in the release of BIG EAST weekly awards announced this afternoon. Ryan, who has scored a goal in every game this season, earns weekly recognition from the conference for the first time this season and the seventh time in her career.

Following the conclusion of play this past weekend Villanova is the only undefeated team in the BIG EAST and Ryan was critical to the Wildcats improving their record to 4-0-2 during games against Virginia Commonwealth and William & Mary in the latter team's home tournament.

In a double-overtime victory over VCU on Friday afternoon Ryan scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win just 31 seconds before the contest would have ended in a draw. She won a loose ball from the VCU goalkeeper and found the back of the net for her third game-winning goal of the season and the 14th of her career. In the process, Ryan tied the school record for career game-winning goals, matching the efforts of Cathy Ford (1983-85) and Ann Brennan (1983-86). Ryan had also tallied an assist on the game's first goal in the 14th minute, her second helper of the season.

Ryan came up big in the championship game of the Nike Tribe Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Invitational on Sunday afternoon, when the Wildcats played to a 2-2 tie against host William & Mary. This marked the first time in five tries that Villanova has registered a point in head-to-head play versus the Tribe and it took a game-tying goal from Ryan in the second half to assure the positive result.

After trailing at halftime for the first time all season the Wildcats shrugged off a 2-1 deficit when Ryan scored on a breakaway goal in the 57th minute. She displayed her trademark speed in racing downfield ahead of the defense and scored on a shot from 18 yards out for her sixth goal of the season.

Ryan has now scored a goal in seven consecutive games, including the final game of the 2010 season and all six games this year. This is the longest streak of Ryan's career, surpassing a pair of four-game goal scoring streaks she had during her freshman and sophomore seasons. Ryan's six goals, 14 points and three game-winning goals so far this season are all tied for first place in the BIG EAST statistical rankings.

With its undefeated record still intact after four straight games away from home Villanova now prepares to host Penn on Friday night in the team's first-ever game at PPL Park, home of the MLS Philadelphia Union.

NOTES: Ryan earned three weekly awards from the BIG EAST during both the 2008 and 2009 seasons ... She was the Rookie of the Week on three occasions as a freshman in 2008 ... During the 2009 campaign she earned one Offensive Player of the Week award and was selected to the honor roll twice.
