Amanda Vocelka
Sept. 4, 2017

New York, N.Y. -

After going 2-0 this weekend for the first time since 2012 the Villanova Wildcats have three earn BIG EAST weekly honors.

Amanda Vocelka was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week while Emily Kuefler took home Defensive Player.  Joining them on the Weekly Honor Roll is Emily Harris.

Vocelka scored two goals this weekend the first, the game winner against Saint Joseph’s in the 55th minute.  Her second came Sunday during Villanova’s 5-0 win over Lafayette just minutes before halftime she was able to get her shot from 18 yards out to hit the crossbar and fall in.

Kuefler was pivotal at both ends of the field this weekend, anchoring a defense which posted back-to-back shutouts while allowing just five shots on goal over the two wins. The senior defender helped sparked the offense as well with a league-high five points last week, including two goals and an assist. Kuefler scored back-to-back goals to open the contest against Lafayette on Sunday, while helping to limit the Leopards to just four shots. She also assisted on Friday’s game-winning goal against Saint Joseph’s.

Harris, earned two shutouts this weekend and finished with five saves in 180 minutes of work.

Villanova will return to action on Friday when they travel to Lehigh for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
