VILLANOVA, PA. - Villanova University head women's soccer coach Ann Clifton recently announced the naming of the team's captain for the 2003 season. The Wildcats' 2003 Captains are seniors Candice MacDonald and Chrissy Dolan and junior Michelle Biehl. Junior Laura Johnson was named an assistant captain for the 2003 season.

MacDonald started in 16 of the 21 games in which she played last season, scoring two goals and added two assists for six points.

Dolan had a tremendous season in her first year as a starter in goal in 2002, posting a 14-3-4 record with nine shutouts. She also recorded a 0.55 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. A four-time Big East goalkeeper of the week last season, Dolan also earned national goalkeeper of the week honors by both Soccer America and Soccer Buzz on Oct. 3. Following the season, she was named to the Soccer Buzz All-Mid Atlantic Region second team.

One of the conference's and the nation's top defenders, Biehl tallied four assists last season and helped the Wildcat defense hold opponents to 0.53 goals per game. She garnered a number of post-season honors as she was named to the All-American third team by both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Soccer America, the All-Big East second team, and the NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region first team, as well as receiving All-America honorable mention from Soccer Buzz, and earning All-Mid Atlantic Region first team honors from the publication.

Johnson was the team's top offensive force in 2002 scoring nine goals and dishing out nine assists for 27 points. She was named to the All-Big East first team for her efforts, as well as to the NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region second team and the to the Soccer Buzz All-Mid Atlantic Region second team.

The Villanova women's soccer team had yet another outstanding season in 2002, earning a trip to its second consecutive NCAA Tournament and tying the school record for wins in a season with 14 (14-3-4 record).
