Villanova, Pa. -
Villanova freshman Hensley Hancuff just returned from participating in the U.S. Soccer U-18 Women’s National Team Training camp in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
The camp took place Feb. 10-17 and was a concurrent training camp for both the U-19 and U-18 levels. Hancuff was one of 24 invited to the U-18 camp.
All 48 players at the team camp are age-eligible for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup team, as the age cut-off is Jan. 1, 1998.
“Hensley is clearly one of the top US goalkeepers in the country,” stated head coach Chris McLain. “Since her arrival in January, we have been doing everything possible to make sure she will be ready for National Team Camp if called upon. Her work ethic is second to none so we are not surprised at all that she got the call.”
Hancuff joined the team in the Spring of the 2018 semester as the #1 ranked goalkeeper in the state of Florida and #3 overall in the 2018 recruiting class. A four star rated player, Hancuff participated with the U16 Girls National Team and was selected for the U17 Women's National Team.
“I was super excited to be back in the US Soccer system and am really looking forward to what’s coming in the future. The team is like a family and it is always the best of times being with them,” shared Hancuff.
