Women's Soccer Inks Five During Early Signing Period

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova women's soccer Head Coach John Byford is set to welcome the addition of five student-athletes for the 2013-14 academic year.

The Class of 2017 features one two-time state Gatorade Player of the Year, two all-state honorees, five all-league performers and includes a balanced mix of one forward, two midfielders, one defender and one goalkeeper. All five additions are also exceptional in the classroom and have received academic honors both in their high schools and on the national level.

Joining the Wildcats this fall are Caroline Brown (Raleigh, N.C./Needham Broughton), Caitlin Bucksbaum (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), Callie Duliba (Kintnersville, Pa./Palisades), Katie Martin (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) and Emmalee Meyer (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa).

"I am really excited to be welcoming this recruiting class to our program. It is a group that is full of quality and they are all players who have had great success at the high school, club, state and regional ODP level," states Byford. "We have a great mix of positions which will give our squad players in key positions, as well as depth in many positions. This group is definitely going to be major contributors to our program during their careers here."

Caroline Brown

Caroline Brown

Byford on Brown: "Caroline comes from one of the best club teams in the nation and has been an integral part of that team. She has had amazing success during her career, so far, winning National, Regional and State championships. She is a very gifted midfielder who is an excellent passer of the ball and is also a defensive presence due to her ability to read the game. Her qualities will fit excellently into the way we like to play and I believe Caroline will be a major contributor to our team."

Club Team and ODP Experience: Member of the North Carolina ODP system from 2007-2010... Attended the 2010 US Soccer Training Center Camp and was a part of the '95 Region III ODP Regional Pool... Attended the 2009 '95 Region III ODP Camp and SuperY National Camp... 2008 Region III ODP Camp...Played club soccer for the CASL Chelsea Ladies '94... Earned back-to-back ECNL National Championships... 2011 USYSA Region III Semi-Finalists... 2010 North Carolina State Cup Champions, Region III Premier League East Champions, ECNL Semi-Finalists and USYSA Region III Semi-Finalists...2009 Disney Soccer Showcase Champions, CASL Shootout Champions, North Carolina State Cup Champions, Region III Premier League East Champions, USYSA Finalists and USYSA Region III Champions.

Needham Broughton: Earned three varsity letters under Head Coach Izzy Hernandez... Named a three-time selection to the Cap 8 All-Conference team... 2012 all-region selection and MVP of Needham Broughton... Member of the Honor Roll, National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.

Personal: Born January 24th, 1995 in Raleigh, N.C... Parents are Steve and Pam Brown... One brother, Daniel, is currently a pitcher on the baseball team at Liberty University... Will enroll in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Caitlin Bucksbaum

Byford on Bucksbaum: "Caitlin comes from an excellent club program, was a standout on her high school team and has experience at the State and Regional ODP level. Caitlin is an extremely hard working player who can play wide or centrally and it's that versatility that will help her contribute to our program. Her strengths will fit perfectly into our style of play."

Club Team and ODP Experience: Member of the Maine and Vermont ODP system from 2007-2012... Named to the 2012 Region I ODP Pool and participated in the Inter-regional Tournament in Boca, Fl... Member of the FC Stars of Massachusetts from 2011-2013, U17 &U18 ENCL... Attended the 2010-11 Charlotte Soccer Academy ENCL, Region III and participated in the Regional Championships in Nashville, Tenn... Also played for the Farpost, Capital and Rutland soccer clubs.

Falmouth: Earned four varsity letters under Head Coach Walker LeBlanc, serving as a team captain and totaling 32 goals and 34 assists in her high school career...Named the 2012 and 2013 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year and Portland Press Herald Maine Female Player of the Year... Selected to the 2012 All-New England Team, Maine All-State Team, Maine Soccer Coaches Western Maine Class B Regional Team and Maine All-Academic Team... Chosen to the 2011 Western Maine Conference First Team and was a two-time selection to the Portland Press Herald All-State team... Selected to the 2011 Maine Soccer Coaches Western Maine Class B Regional Team ... 2012 and 2011 Maine Class B State Champions... 2011 NC 4A State Finalists... Also lettered in Nordic Skiing, Alpine Skiing and cross country...National AP Scholar, honors student and outstanding achievement award winner.

Personal: Born May 31st, 1995 in Hanover, N.H... Parents are Mark and Marianne Buckbaum... Siblings are Erin and Brendan... Brother, Brendan, currently plays soccer for Hamilton College... Will enroll in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Callie Duliba

5'5" Defense/Midfield

Byford on Duliba: "Callie is also from a top quality club environment. She too has won at the State and Regional level and been runner up at the National level with her club team. Callie also enjoyed a successful high school career and played ODP at the State and Regional level. Callie, is also a versatile player who can play at the back or in the midfield. She is very comfortable on the ball and is tough in the tackle. She will be a great contributor to our team."

Club Team and ODP Experience: Member of PDA from 2008-2013. PDA Spring kickoff champions in 2009... Disney College Cup Champions in 2009... State cup champions 2010 and 2011... USYS Region 1 Premier Champions in 2010... Finalists of ECNL Championship 2010 and 2011... Member of Eastern Pennsylvania 94' ODP 2006 from 2010... Region I Pool 2008... Attended Inter-Regional National Camp in 2009...Attended Region I Regional Camp 2007 and 2008... Invited to U.S Club ID2 Region Camp in 2010.

Palisades: Earned two varsity letters under Head Coach Joy Wolf, helping guide Palisades to a 2011 and 2012 Colonial League Championship... Named a 2012 first team all-league selection and team MVP... Also earned 2011 first team all-league honors.

Personal: Born June 9th, 1994 in Newtown, Pa... Parents are Drew and Lori Duliba... One sister, Tawny... Will enroll in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Katie Martin

Byford on Martin: "Katie is a very talented forward who has scored goals at every level she has played at. She, again, has won State, Regional and National championships with her club team. Katie has been a captain on her high school and club team and adds a leadership quality to our team. She has good pace, a great determination as is a high quality finisher, who I expect to score a lot of goals for our program."

Club Team and ODP Experience: Member of the Sting 95 ENCL team, serving as a team captain in 2012-13...2012 and 2011 leading goal scorer... 2012 ECNL National Championship Semifinalist... Helped guide the team to 2011 and 2010 USYSA Region III and National Championships... Four-time North Texas State Cup Champions... Earned championships at the Surf Cup, CASL Tournament and Disney Showcase... Named the Region III Premier League Champions... Attended both the PDP id2 and ide2 camps.

Highland Park: Earned four varsity letters under Head Coach Steward Brown, serving as a team captain while helping guide Highland Park to a 4A State Championship... Named a three-time selection to the TASCO All-Region Team... Two-time selection to the TASCO All-State team... Named to the 2012 DFW All-Area First Team, UIL All-Tournament First Team and MVP of the state championship semifinal contest... Notched 66 goals during her sophomore and junior seasons to lead the team... 2011 All-District and Highland Park Offensive MVP... 2009 All-District Newcomer of the Year... Emmalee Meyer

Byford on Emmalee: "Emmalee is an excellent goalkeeper who has won State Championships with both her high school and her club team. Her leadership qualities have been rewarded with the captaincy of her high school and club team and she too has had experience at the State and Regional ODP level. Emmalee is a great addition to our program"

Club Team and ODP Experience: Member of the Eastern New York ODP system from 2005-2010... Named to the 2008 Region 1 ODP Pool... Played club soccer for Massapequa Elite from 2004-2012, serving as a team captain... Earned the 2008 New York State Championship.

Massapequa: Earned five varsity letters under Head Coach Bruce Stegner, serving as a two-time captain... Earned Nassau County All-Classification honors in 2012 and 2011... Selected as the 2012 Senior Scholar-Athlete... Named the 2010 Outstanding Goalkeeper for the NYS High School State Tournament... Helped Massapequa earn the 2010 New York High School State Championship... Also lettered in Winter Track and Field.

Personal: Born January 25th, 1995 in Nyack, N.Y... Parents are Peter and Lauren Meyer... Siblings are Peter and Kelly... Father, Peter, played lacrosse at SUNY Cortland... Will enroll in the College of Engineering.
