VILLANOVA, Pa. - Head coach Fran Kulas announced the Villanova women's soccer team 2014 spring slate on Monday morning. The Wildcats will participate in five scrimmages this offseason against La Salle, Penn State, Temple, Saint Joseph's and Monmouth. All scrimmages will be held on the opponent's campus as Villanova begins their preparation for their fall 2014 season of competition.
Kulas states, "We treat our spring season almost as a pre-season if-you-will, a precursor to our fall season. This is an opportunity for us to ensure our players are sharp from a physical and technical standpoint, and also tactically so that we can establish our style and system of play as we look ahead to the fall. We feel that the best way to compliment our training program during the spring is to play the best possible competition, so that we can truly be tested. We certainly have accomplished that with our 2014 spring schedule, facing three teams, Penn State, Monmouth, and LaSalle, who played in the NCAA tournament the past two years, in addition to two tough local rivals, St. Joe's and Temple.
Kulas continued, "Because it is difficult to win games on the road at this level, we are challenging ourselves by playing all of our spring games on the road so that we can learn how to prepare to travel and succeed in difficult and unfamiliar environments. We are all very excited about the challenges and successes that lie ahead for our program this spring and beyond and look forward to the support of our alumni, parents, and members of the soccer community at these competitive matches this spring."
