Villanova women’s soccer fell to the DePaul Blue Demons by a final of 6-3 on Senior Day.
With the win the Blue Demons are now 6-7-2 overall and 2-2-4 in conference play while the Wildcats fall to 6-11 on the year and 2-6 in BIG EAST play.
DePaul jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, just over six minutes in Elizabeth Parrilli cross a high ball into the box that found Madeline Frick. Frick headed the ball but her shot was blocked by a Villanova defender and fell in front of Morgan Turner who got her shot to fall into the back of the net. This would remain the score at the end of the first half.
The second half eight combined goals from both teams. DePaul netted the first two less than a minute apart, the first was scored by Alexa Ben the second Franny Cerny.
Villanova would get on the board next, Kristin Barbour passed a ball up to the top of box to Emma Firenze who made on quick touch and fed the ball to Emily Kuefler. Kuefler got her shot to go in past the reach of Lauren Frasca, DePaul’s goalkeeper to make the score 3-1.
Next DePaul’s Ben and Villanova’s Barbour would both net successful penalty kicks for their respective teams to make the score 4-2 DePaul with just over 15 minutes to go.
The Wildcats would get their third goal of the game off a Barbour free kick which fell in the box that Kuefler was able to tip in past the goalkeeper to make it a one goal game.
DePaul would answer back scoring two final goals, one by Ben, who finished with a hat trick, and that other by Turner. Making the final 6-3 DePaul.
Villanova will close out the regular season on Thursday, October 26th at Butler. Game time is set for 7:00 P.M. and can be seen on BEDN.
